Steadfast Books is a second-hand bookstore at 17 Wise Street in Addington, Christchurch. It opened in 2021 and describes itself as a destination bookstore with a curated stock of quality used fiction and non-fiction. Most of the stock is non-fiction, about 80 per cent, with the rest made up of classic and modern fiction. Graphic novels and movies are also stocked, and the shop sells some selected new books that come direct from overseas publishers.
The store says it is an old-fashioned bookshop for readers of every kind, and it hopes to become a place where books can be found, shared and discussed, with local author sections and study areas. It has been featured in The Press, Cityscape, Seven Sharp, Metropol and Stuff. The shop offers valuations of book collections and estate lots, and it can help with house and estate clearances. It is usually open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4.30pm, and it asks visitors to check its Facebook page for the latest opening hours.
