The New Brighton Club is a long-established members' club on the beachfront in New Brighton, Christchurch, first opening its doors to the community in the early 1950s. The clubrooms were built on the site of the former New Brighton tram terminal and have been expanded and upgraded over the years into the modern building it is today.
The club's facilities are centred on the Tramshed Bar, the club's main bar, which includes the Tramshed Bistro, 18 gaming machines, a big screen TV, a TAB Pod, and two pool tables. The Leon Dixey Billiard Room offers a snooker table, six pool tables and a dart board area. Members can also get involved in eight sporting and activity sections, covering cards, darts, fishing, indoor bowls, motor sport, pool, and racing and travel.
Regular entertainment includes a Lucky Card Draw on Tuesday nights, raffle nights (meat and money raffles) held Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and the Miss Scarlett Draw every Friday night. The club runs a shuttle service on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for members getting to and from the club, and operates under a Club Licence, with bar service restricted to members, their guests, and members of reciprocal clubs.
The New Brighton Club is led by President Nadine Sunnex, Vice President Peter Sunnex, Warden Peter Niven, and General Manager Glennys Le Breton, and regularly contributes to a range of local and national charities.
