Performance Massage Clinic is a sports and remedial massage clinic in Ellerslie, Auckland, based inside Active Physio on the corner of Amy Street and Main Highway. It was founded in 2008 by Rebecca Fogarty, a qualified massage therapist with a Diploma of Remedial Massage from Australia, who previously competed at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and worked at a sports physio clinic before starting her own business.
Rebecca's client base leans heavily toward athletes needing deep tissue and sports massage, ranging from general fitness clients through to elite athletes and teams, including the Auckland Blues, Auckland NPC, the All Blacks, and New Zealand and Australian representatives in track and field and triathlon. She also works with clients dealing with work-related neck, back and shoulder pain, those recovering from injury, and those simply needing to relax and de-stress.
Chantal Sissing, a South African-qualified physiotherapist, also works at the clinic. Before moving to New Zealand, she ran her own practice offering physiotherapy treatments alongside sports and remedial massage, and has worked with athletes including Ironman participants, runners, cyclists, MMA fighters and rugby players, as well as the SA Muaythai team.
Performance Massage Clinic operates out of Ellerslie, Auckland, working from inside Active Physio on the corner of Amy Street and Main Highway. It's a sports and remedial massage clinic built on the experience of its two therapists, Rebecca Fogarty and Chantal Sissing.
Rebecca Fogarty founded Performance Massage Clinic in 2008 after studying for a Diploma of Remedial Massage in Australia and working at a sports physio clinic on returning to New Zealand. Her own sporting career, which included competing at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, gave her a firsthand understanding of what regular massage can do for recovery, performance and injury prevention - an experience that shaped the clinic she went on to build.
A large share of Rebecca's clientele are athletes who need deep tissue and sports massage, spanning everyone from general 'keep fit' clients to elite competitors. Over the years she's built up experience working with some of New Zealand's top teams and individuals, including the Auckland Blues, Auckland NPC, the All Blacks, and New Zealand and Australian representatives in track and field and triathlon.
Her work isn't limited to elite sport, though. Rebecca also treats clients dealing with neck, back and shoulder pain caused by work-related stress, people recovering from injury or needing relief from muscular pain and tension, and those who simply need to relax and de-stress. She takes pride in treating each client individually, with a belief in the importance of a healthy body and mind together.
Chantal Sissing brings a different but complementary background to the clinic. A South African-qualified physiotherapist, she ran her own practice before moving to New Zealand, combining physiotherapy treatments with sports and remedial massage for her clients. At Performance Massage Clinic, she works with a wide range of people, all aimed at helping the body recover, prevent injury, improve general wellbeing, or relieve muscular tension and pain.
Chantal has worked with a broad spread of athletes, including Ironman participants, runners, cyclists, MMA fighters and rugby players, and was the therapist for the SA Muaythai team. She's also an athlete herself - a passionate runner who has completed numerous marathons and ultra marathons, alongside triathlons, cycling events, and boxing.
Between Rebecca and Chantal's backgrounds, Performance Massage Clinic covers sports massage, remedial massage and deep tissue work, alongside treatment for injury recovery, work-related muscular pain, and general relaxation. It's a clinic built around two therapists who understand the physical demands of sport from personal experience as much as professional training.
Performance Massage Clinic is located at 180 Main Highway, Ellerslie, inside Active Physio on the corner of Amy Street and Main Highway. Enquiries and bookings can be made by phone or email, and the clinic keeps a Facebook page for updates.
For anyone in Ellerslie after a massage therapist who understands the demands of sport - whether that's elite competition, weekend fitness, or recovering from injury - Performance Massage Clinic offers that experience from two therapists with backgrounds that go well beyond the treatment table.
