About Mission Bay Tap Room - Good George

Mission Bay Tap Room is Good George's beachside bar and restaurant on Tamaki Drive, pitched as a local spot for catching up with familiar faces, settling in, and feeling right at home. It brings together award-winning Good George Brewing craft beer and cider, an extensive drinks list, dishes from its food menu, and warm hospitality.

Good George came to life after a group of friends with years in hospitality and brewing decided to create their own craft beer, finding a home in the old St George's Church in Frankton, Hamilton - the venue that gave the brewery its name. Their belief is that beer should be simple, enjoyable and rewarding rather than bland, mass produced and boring, or hard, pretentious and scary.

Mission Bay Tap Room hosts live music on the deck every Friday to Sunday, screens the biggest live sport events, and offers function spaces for private events, alongside casual drop-in drinks and table bookings for dinner.

Mission Bay Tap Room: Good George's Beachside Bar on Tamaki Drive

Mission Bay Tap Room is Good George's beachside bar and restaurant on Tamaki Drive, built around the idea of being your local - your people, your home. It's a spot designed for catching up with familiar faces, settling in for a while, and feeling comfortable whether you're dropping in for a quick drink or staying for dinner.

The Good George Story

Good George began when a group of friends, after years working in hospitality and brewing, decided it was time to create their own craft beer. They found a home in the old St George's Church in Frankton, Hamilton, and the venue gave the brewery its name. Good George's belief is that beer can be so much better and more rewarding - it shouldn't be bland, full of chemicals, mass produced or boring, and it shouldn't be hard, pretentious or scary either. The aim is to make exploring and drinking beer simple, enjoyable and genuinely rewarding.

Food, Drinks and Hospitality

Mission Bay Tap Room pairs Good George's award-winning craft beer and cider with an extensive wider drinks list and a food menu of its own, all served with what the venue describes as warm hospitality. The full food and drinks menus are available directly through the Tap Room's website.

Live Music and Sport

The deck at Mission Bay Tap Room hosts live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, making it a regular weekend fixture for anyone after music with their drinks. The venue also screens the biggest live sport events on screen, giving it a dual identity as both a relaxed beachside hangout and a solid spot to catch a big game.

Function Spaces

For private events, Mission Bay Tap Room offers two distinct spaces. The Mission Room is a large, sophisticated and spacious neutral space with white walls, dark wooden floors and a high pitched A-frame ceiling, seating up to 80 or holding 150 standing, with large windows opening onto views of the Pohutukawa-lined beach. The Ocean View room, located just off the main bar, holds up to 30 standing and can be opened up on a good day to let in the sun and sea breeze, offering a cosier, semi-private space with beach views.

Booking a Table or an Event

Tables for up to 10 people can be booked online. For groups larger than 10, bookings go through email, and event enquiries for 20 or more people are handled through the venue's functions process, with a dedicated Functions Manager and a downloadable functions brochure available.
